ThreadDesk

Terms of Use

Last updated: February 23, 2026

1. Introduction and acceptance

These Terms of Use govern access to and use of ThreadDesk (the “Service”), a tool for working with threads and direct messages in Mattermost. By using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to the Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Service description

ThreadDesk is a unified dashboard that accelerates Mattermost thread handling, built for heavy thread/DM users (Leads, On‑call, Support, Managers).

Key capabilities:

  • One queue of threads and dialogs for “Inbox Zero”;
  • Reply, resolve, filtering, and prioritization;
  • Works via the official Mattermost API under the signed‑in user’s authorization (like a regular web/desktop client);
  • Self‑Hosted deployment in a company’s closed network; the cloud version is provided for evaluation only.

Technical notes:

  • No separate external database is required — an embedded store is used as a cache;
  • The cache stores recent activity for 7–14 days depending on user settings;
  • After reinstallation, a user simply re‑authorizes and continues working;
  • OAuth is recommended for authorization; personal tokens are supported but are not rotated and are less secure;
  • The Service does not send data to the public internet and works with your local MM installation; outbound traffic can be blocked (except for any explicitly configured external integrations, if your admins choose to enable them).

3. Deployment models and licensing

  • Self‑Hosted (recommended):
    Free for single, personal use (Single‑User);
    Team use requires a paid, one‑year license purchased.
  • Cloud version: provided strictly for evaluation/trial; security and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR) may not be fully met in the cloud.

Detailed licensing terms and pricing are provided in a quote/invoice or on the website. Licenses are limited in scope and term and may not be resold or transferred unless expressly permitted.

4. Accounts and access

  • You need an account in your organization’s Mattermost and must sign in to ThreadDesk;
  • You agree to provide accurate information and keep your authentication credentials confidential;
  • You are responsible for all actions taken under your account;
  • Organization admins may manage access and settings, including auth methods (OAuth/personal tokens), logging levels, and cache retention.

5. Acceptable use

Permitted uses include:

  • Managing work communications in Mattermost;
  • Increasing personal and team productivity;
  • Handling requests (Support, On‑call, Management) in accordance with the law and your company policies.

Prohibited activities include:

  • Using the Service for unlawful purposes or in violation of third‑party rights;
  • Attempting to gain unauthorized access to systems, data, or accounts;
  • Interfering with the Service, bypassing technical limitations, reverse‑engineering or decompiling beyond what is permitted by law;
  • Infringing intellectual property rights to software, content, trademarks, or other materials.

6. Privacy and security (summary)

The Service processes Mattermost data via the official API under the user’s account, does not send data outside your network, and operates in a closed environment. Message text is not written to logs — only technical events. See the Privacy Policy for details.

7. Payment terms (for licenses)

  • Team licenses are granted for one year and priced per user;
  • Payment and refund procedures are defined in the commercial offer and/or invoice. Unless otherwise stated in a contract, payments are non‑refundable except where required by law;
  • Licenses may be renewed under new terms. Price changes do not affect already paid periods.

8. Intellectual property

  • Rights holder: the ThreadDesk software, design, names and marks, documentation, and other materials belong to the rights holder and/or its licensors.
  • User rights: you retain rights to your content and data in Mattermost as governed by your organization and Mattermost policies.
  • A non‑exclusive, limited license is granted to use the Service under the acquired model (personal/team), without the right to sublicense, assign, or transfer unless agreed in writing.

9. Availability and updates

  • For Self‑Hosted deployments, availability depends on your organization’s infrastructure; 100% uptime is not guaranteed for the cloud version;
  • Updates, fixes, and functionality changes may occur. Critical changes will be accompanied by release notes; admins control the update process in the closed environment.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ThreadDesk and the rights holder are not liable for indirect, incidental, punitive, special damages, loss of profits, data loss, business interruption, or consequences of integrations and configurations performed by your admins.

11. Termination

  • We may suspend or terminate licenses/access in case of a breach of these Terms or non‑payment (for team licenses);
  • You may stop using the Service at any time; for Self‑Hosted, remove/disable the deployment. On subsequent installation, re‑authorization is required.

12. Governing law and disputes

Governing law and dispute resolution are defined by the applicable contract/invoice or by the rights holder’s jurisdiction unless otherwise agreed in writing. Conflict‑of‑laws rules do not apply.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update the Terms. The current version is published on the website/in the distribution. The last updated date is shown above. For team licenses, material changes may be communicated via your admin contact.
